Abstract :
In the current’s modern era, education is one of the things that has to be noticed by all of
the parties that include of the teachers, parents, students, and even by the society. For
instance, one of the problems that relates to the students’ obstinacy in school is skipping
behavior. Thus, method by using group counseling with the cognitive behavior approach;
moreover, the students will get knowledge that the skipping behavior. This research at
discovering the effectiveness of the group counseling method using the cognitive behavior
approach to decrease the skipping behavior of Junior High School (SMP) students. This
research was pre-experimental research using the one group pre and posttest design. The
subjects of this research consisted of 8 students that were chosen by using the purposive
sampling method. The analysis of this research used the Wilcoxon parametric test. The
analysis test results showed the significance score of 0,010 so that (p < 0,05). Departing
from those results, it can be concluded that the intervention of group counseling with the
cognitive behavior (CB) approach is able to decrease the students’ skipping behavior.
