Abstract :
The parenting stress experienced by mothers can influence parenting behavior carried
out by mothers to children, mothers become more depressed, ignore children, even
commit violence against children, and lack support in stimulating child development.
This condition is predicted to reduce the ability of executive functions of children with
special needs. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the
stress of parenting mothers and executive functions of children with special needs. The
sampling technique used purposive sampling in Malang City. The research subjects
were 59 mothers who had children with special needs aged 6-12 years. The data
collection method uses the scale of the Parenting Stress Index (PSI) and the scale of the
Childhood Inventory of Executive Function (CHEXI). Test analysis using Pearson
product moment correlation (p = 0,000; r = -0,613) shows that there is a significant
negative relationship between the stress of parenting and the executive function of
children with special needs.
