Abstract :
Social loafing is a tendency to reduce the effort that is mobilized when working in groups. Cohesiveness is a factor that can influence the level of social loafing. The aim of this research was to determine the relationship between cohesiveness and social loafing on students of LSO in the field of technology. The subjects of this study were 90 LSO members of Engineering Faculty, University of Muhammadiyah Malang, male and female, aged 18 to 24 years, and came from three LSOs. Data collection was done by using a scale of Group Environment Questionnaire (GEQ) to measure the cohesiveness and scale of social loafing. Data analysis method in this study was Product Moment correlation by using SPSS 21 program. The results of data analysis show that there is a positive correlation between cohesiveness and social loafing (r = 0,214; p = 0,043 < 0,05). Cohesiveness effecting on social loafing is showed in this results by 4.6% (r² = 0,046).
