Abstract :
Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is a tool, method, resource or system that can provide assistance to conduct surveillance and detection on computer networks, provide reports on network traffic activities that function specifically as overall protection of the system installed. This IDS method is very useful in network security systems because it can prevent the threat of attacks, damage or steal by an attacker on a computer network. By using this IDS method we can improve the computer network security system in this study by using snort, an application to detect intrusions such as attacks, intrusions and other forms of threats. In this research, snort is used for network security systems that have configuration rules that can detect some intrusions and are combined using e-mail as a notification so that they can be monitored in real time.
