Abstract :
ABSTRACT NIOSOME CHARACTERIZATION, FORMULATION and CHEMICAL PHYSICAL STABILITY TEST of GREEN TEA EXTRACT (Camellia sinensis) NIOSOME SYSTEM Nencylia Mahmintari1*, Uswatun Chasanah, Raditya Weka Nugraheni Study Program of Pharmacy, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Muhammadiyah Malang Email : nencylia777@gmail.com Background : Green tea (Camellia sinensis) contains catechins as known as EGCG which have antioxidant activity which is effective for preventing aging caused by exposure of sun's UV rays. Gel with niosome system was chosen because it has good stability, accelerates the therapeutic effect and increases skin penetration. Objective : To identify the characterization of niosomes and the impact of concentrations noisome with green tea extract (30%, 40% and 50%) on the physical-chemical characteristics test (pH, organoleptic, viscosity and spreading) and the stability of gel preparation with freeze thaw cycle and real-time methods. Method : Use an experimental method by comparing the impact of concentrations niosome with green tea extracts 30%, 40%, and 50% on gel preparations on the physical-chemical characteristics test and the stability of gel preparation during storage. Results and Conclusions : From the research results, it showed that vesicles of niosome has diameter 13.55 µm, polydispersion index values (0,856 ± 0.057) and zeta potential (-0.616 ± 0.068). On evaluating the physical-chemical characteristics test, the preparation of green tea extract gel with niosome system resulted brownish color, green tea flavor and has a thick consistency and can be concluded that green tea extract niosome has a significant difference on viscosity and spreadability but on the pH, there is no significant difference between each niosome gel formula. In the stability test is known that the storage with the freeze thaw cycle and real-time method affects the pH of the preparation but still included in the range of requirements (4-8) so gels still safe to use on the skin.
