Abstract :
Citronella oil is a tradisional plant commonly used as aromatherapy which has a content of citronellal, geraniol, and citronellol compounds with high antibacterial activity. Acne is a skin disease that often occurs. Although not a serious illness, this can reduce self-confidence. A peel off mask has made because its practical and easy to use wherever and whenever. To make a mask Peel off requires material that functions as a filming agent, PVA. The advantages of PVA besides being a good filming agent, PVA also has a bacterial inhibition zone effect. Objective: This research was conducted to determine the effect of the concentration of PVA with a concentration of 8%, 10% and 12% using active ingredients citronella fragrance 0.5% on the activity of Propionibacterium acnes bacteria Methods: This research is an experimental study to compare 3 formulas with different PVA concentrations then analyze antibacterial activity Results and Conclusions: PVA content of 8%, 10%, and 12% in the preparation of peel-off lemongrass oil masks have different inhibitions for each formula to Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. The greater concentration of PVA delivered small inhibitory power produced because PVA can increase viscosity where the optimal viscosity will hold the active substance dispersed in the base Suggestion: More studies were conducted on the antibacterial activity of peel off mask with a PVA base
