Abstract :
Background: Flexibility is one of the most important components of the body. Flexibility is the ability of the body to elongate with the help of the joint movement. Swiss ball exercise is one of the exercises that can help to improve the flexibility in the body using a ball. Purpose: To find out the effect of swiss ball exercise on the improvement flexibility of the lower back muscles on the students of dance extracurricular in university of Adi Buana Surabaya. Method: This study uses pre-experimental one group pretest and posttest design. This study was conducted on 4th February until 3rd March 2019 and was conducted 3 times in a week for 4 weeks with 25 respondent students of dance extracurricular in university of Adi Buana Surabaya. Instrument of this study is modified sit and reach test and the data analysis is using the Wilcoxon test. Results: It shows 0,000 (α<0,005) explaining that H1 is accepted with the average of improvement is from 16,72 to 19,04. Conclusions: There is an effect of swiss ball exercise on the improvement flexibility of the lower back muscles.
