Abstract :
Adolescent behavior to provide assistance to the people around or commonly called altruism lately began to decrease. One influential factor is emotional intelligence. Adolescents with high emotional intelligence tend to have altruistic behavior compared to adolescents who have low emotional intelligence. This study aims to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence with altruistic behavior in college students. The subjects in this study were students of generation in 2018. The data collection method was a scale. There are 2 scales used in this study, the scale of emotional intelligence and altruism scale. The data analysis technique used in this study was the product moment correlation of Karl Pearson with the help of SPSS Program version 21. Based on the results of calculations and data analysis, a correlation index of 0.271 is obtained with p=0.000 (p<0.01) This shows that the emotional intelligence variable has a positive relationship with altruism. This means that the higher the emotional intelligence students have, the higher the altruism behavior.
