Abstract :
Family acceptance can be described as a condition where a family can understand their family member’s condition signed by a good affection, caring, and happy feelings while take care of their family members. The subjects of this research were a family who has a low family acceptance to their family member with HIV condition. There are many ways to increase tha family acceptance, one of them is by giving a family counseling with humanistic approach. Humanistic family counseling is an intervention by counselor to counselee, that will involving their family members during process and effort the counselee to figure out their own problem and solution. The objective of this study was to verify whether family counseling could increase the family acceptance. The subjects on this research is one family with six members that have a low score of family acceptance to their sick family member. Design of this research was a pre experimental design with One Group Pre Test and Post Test model. Research results using Wilcoxon showed there was a significant increasing in family acceptance level after counseling where p < 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that humanistic family counseling could increase the family acceptance among HIV patient.
