Abstract :
Counterproductive Work Behavior (CWB) is a deviant behavior that violates the norms of the organization that is done intentionally, so that it adversely affects both the company or organization and other members. Emotional intelligence and the quality of the relationship between superiors and subordinates are factors that can influence the occurrence of counterproductive work behavior (CWB). This study aims to determine the direct relationship between emotional intelligence with CWB behavior, as well as the indirect relationship between emotional intelligence and CWB behavior mediated by the quality of the relationship between superiors and subordinates. This study uses a quantitative approach to the method of data collection using a scale of emotional intelligence, CWB scale, and the quality scale of leader member exchange (LMX). The subjects in this study were the State Civil Apparatus in Batu City, amounting to 213 people from several offices. Analysis technic was used in this research (path analysis) mediation regression test. The results of this study indicate that there is a negative relationship between emotional intelligence and CWB behavior with a β= correlation coefficient of -0.566 p (0,000), and indirectly through mediating the quality of the relationship between superiors and subordinates, with a correlation coefficient of β= -0.518 p (0,000 )
