Abstract :
There are many women in Indonesia who have been working but there are still many negative prejudice that are attached to women who work. The negative bias is commonly called glass ceiling with polyculturalism or an acceptance of different cultures, feeling that each and every difference interacted with each other can decrease the bias against gender. The purpose of this research is to see the relationship of polyculturalism in the presence of glass ceiling experienced by women employees in Indonesia. This research was a quantitative studied, with purposive sampling with female gender criteria worked in institutions/companies, minimum education was S1/D3 and aged 22 – 40 years. The subject of this study was 150 female employees in Indonesia. The research instruments used are polyculturalism scale and glass ceiling scale. The results of the analysis are using a pearson correlation product moment indicating that there is no negative correlation between polyculturalism and the glass ceiling phenomenon in Indonesia, (r(147)= .051, p= .533) and polyculturalism contributed just 0.26% to glass ceiling. This indicates that someone who has believed that there are differences in culture, groups and races is not able to reduce the presence of glass ceiling or discrimination experienced by career women in their workplace.
