Death is a certainty and everyone will experience, not escape for a child, and the person most affected is the mother figure. Sadness, anger, hopelessness and other negative effects that arise are called grief. Grief is an individual response in the face of the death of a loved one. Grief can not be separated from the relationship that exists between mother and child, or often called attachment. However, two phenomena that were found showed a different response that appeared in the mother figure, despite having the same attachment style. This study aims to determine the relationship between attachment and sorrow in mothers whose children have died. This research used a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The subjects of this study were 96 mothers aged 40-65 years who had children died, children aged over 3 years when they died and after the death of the child more than 6 months to 8 years. The sampling technique used Purposive Sampling. The instrument used was The Revised Inventory of Parent Attachment (R-IPA) for the stickiness variable and the Hogan Grief Reaction Checklist (HGRC) for the grief variable, then analyzed by Pearsoncorrelation product momenttest. These results indicate the value of r -0.636 shows a negative correlation between attachment with grief in mothers of children died then if the attachment between mother and child are safe attachment(Secure)then the grief experienced by low maternal otherwise if the attachment between mother and child (Insecure), the higher the suffering experienced by the mother.
