Abstract :
Nomophobia (No-Mobile-Phone Phobia) is an individual's anxiety or fear when not carrying or accessing a smartphone. The dependence to smartphone causes a lack of interepersonal communication quality in individuals. It causes problem in interpersonal communication and too much focus to his own smartphone. Students who are in the process of forming self-identity as well as in a period of establishing interpersonal relationships in their environment, interpersonal communication is very influential in developing their social skills. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of nomophobia and student interpersonal communication. The design used in this study was correlational non-experimental quantitative. The instrument used were a Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q) Likert scale and interpersonal communication scale. Research subjects were 313 students, sampling using accidental sampling technique. The results of the study using the Pearson correlation technique is obtained (r = 0.046 and p = 0.419). These result indicate there is no relationship on the Nomophobia variable and interpersonal communication in students.
