Abstract :
Adolescent is a transition period from childhood to adulthood, so that in this period conflict come up frequently and bring up various emotions. Every people express their emotions with their own way, either in positive or negative way. Negative way that some people usually use to express their emotions by hurting themselves or usually called self-injury. One of the factors that can cause self-injury behavior is relationship between parents and child or attachment with parents. Furthermore, it is predicted that attachment of parent to children plays a role in adolescent self-injury behavior. The aim of this study is to determine the correlation between attachment and self-injury in adolescents. Number of subjects in this study is 130 people. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The instrument used were Inventory Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA) and Inventory of Statements About Self-Injury (ISAS). The results of data analysis using correlation analysis show that there is negative relationship between attachment and self-injury in adolescents (r = -0,233**; p = 0,008).
