Abstract :
One of the components in English that is very important in understanding when
someone is communicating each other is vocabulary. The vocabulary is used to express the
ideas. Vocabulary is one of part in English learning that must be mastered by the learners
beside the fourth skill namely reading, listening, speaking and writing. This research is aimed
to find out the influence of using Online game in learning English for students? Vocabulary
mastery in Diploma Computer of Muhammadiyah University of Metro. This study used
quantitative research. The population of the research consists of 40 students. The
researcher divided into two groups, those are 20 students as the experimental group and 20
students as the control group, the total of the sample are 40 students. The researcher used
Cluster random technique and a t-test formula. The instruments of this research are pre-test
and post-test.
The result of analysis indicated that the value of t obtained (12.111) was higher than
that of t table (2.09) at the significance level 0.05 and the significance (0.000) was lower
than 0.05. That is why, the hypothesis is accepted. It means that teaching vocabulary
mastery using the online game at the diploma computer students is effective.
