Abstract :
The research was entitled ?The Strategy of Election Commision (KPU) in Deducting the Number of Abstentions in 2019?s President and Vice President Election in Sukabumi City?. The problrm identified in the research was that the percentage of abstentions in the 2014?s general election did not achieve the target as applied by KPU of Sukabumi City. The research was aimed at finding out whether the strategy used by KPU of Sukabumi City at the 2019?s President and Vice President could decrease the number of abstentions as applied by KPU itself by deploying the theory from G Dess and Miller. The researcher applied qualitative method and Snowball Sampling was applied for determining informans. The techniques of collecting data applied were observation, interview and documentation. Thus, triangulation technique was used for testing data validity. The result of the research shows that the percentage of abstentions at the 2019?s President and Vice President election has surpassed the target applied by KPU of Sukabumi City. One of the factors that help achieve the goal is the presence of A5 form made by KPU and the targets of socialization given by democracy volunteers.
