Abstract :
This study aims to determine whether the mathematical reasoning abilities of students using problem-based learning models in mathematics learning material to build flat side space is better than students who use the direct learning model and to find out whether there is an increase in students' mathematical reasoning abilities. This type of research is quantitative research using experimental methods. The experimental method is used to find the effect of treatment (treatment) of the object under study. The experimental design used was a quasi-experimental design with a population of 2 class studies taken from the VIII grade of a junior high school in one of the cities of Sukabumi. The research sample uses cluster random sampling techniques. The research design used in this study was a pretest-posttest control group design. The instruments used in this study are instruments test and non-test be in the form of essay questions and documentation. Based on the data prerequisite test, it is known that the results of the research data are normally distributed so that further tests are carried out, namely two independent samples t-test. There is a significant difference in student learning outcomes, this is evidenced by the t-test of two independent samples, this study rejects H0 and accepts H1. Thus, it can be concluded that students' mathematical reasoning abilities using the problem-based learning model are better than students who use the direct learning model. An increase in learning outcomes in the mathematical reasoning ability of students who take part in learning by using the problem-based learning model of learning in the material of flat side space.
