Abstract :
This study aims to describe the application of the Quantum Teaching learning model and describe the improvement of poetry reading skills through the Quantum Teaching model for students in high school elementary school. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a research design using the Kemmis and Mc Taggart models which were carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementing actions, observing, and reflecting. Participants in this study were fourth grade students of SDN Cikembar as many as 36 students, consisting of 15 male students and 21 female students. Data collection techniques in this study used interviews, observation, tests, and field notes. The results of the teacher activity research in the first cycle through the Quantum Teaching learning model, showed an average value of 69 with sufficient categories while the activities of students showed a value of 67 with sufficient categories. Then increasing in the second cycle the teacher's activitie reached an average value of 84 with a very good category and the activities of students reached an average value of 83 with good categories. While the results of the study were pre-cycle through a test of poetry reading skills indicators, showing completeness by 22%. Then increasing in cycle I reached completeness by 72%. Whereas in the second cycle, the results of the tests showed completeness reached 92%. Classroom Action Research (CAR) poetry reading skills improved through the Quantum Teaching learning model for students in high school elementary school in the 2018/2019 school year.
