Abstract :
This study aims to describe the implementation of learning by applying inquiry to improve science process skills and describe improvement in students' science process skills in elementary schools. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a research design using the Kemmis and Mc Taggart models which were carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, action and observation, and reflection. Participants in this study were grade IV students of SDN Gunung Puyuh CBM in Sukabumi City, 25 students, consisting of 14 male students and 11 female students. The data collection technique of this study used tests in the form of pretest and posttest. While the non-test technique is in the form of observation, field notes and documentation. The data analysis technique used is quantitative descriptive. The results of the first cycle of teacher activity obtained an average value of 71 and the activities of students 64, cycle II obtained the value of the average teacher activity 80 and the activities of students 78. In the pre-cycle through a test of science process skills indicators, showed completeness of 12% or 3 people students. Then increasing in the first cycle reached completeness of 52% or 13 students. Whereas in the second cycle, the completeness reached 88%. Or 21 students. The overall increase with the calculation of the gain formula scores 0.65 with the medium category. The CAR concluded that the inquiry model could be applied in improving students' science process skills in elementary schools.
