Abstract :
Pavement are a very important means of land transportation in supporting the community's economy. So that a good road pavement becomes one of the important points that can provide a sense of safety and comfort for road users. In general, road pavement that is often used is a flexible pavement, there are several types of flexible pavement, one of which is concrete asphalt pavement (LASTON). The constituents of the Laston pavement are rough aggregates, fine aggregates, fillers, and asphalt. However, this Laston pavement is quickly damaged, the cause of this pavement damage is caused by high traffic loads and water puddles on the road surface, so it is necessary to modify or improvements to the Laston mixture, one of which uses materials with better quality. Sukabumi Regency has abundant quartz sand potential, one of which is located in the Cibadak area of SukabumiWest Java. So in this research, quartz sand is used as a substitute for fine aggregate with the aim of increasing the stability of the pavement of the road. While the asphalt used is 6%, 6.5%, 7% and 7.5%. The research method used is comparative data analysis were comparing the results of research is the laston standard that uses tidal sand. Tests carried out using Marshall tools. The results show the value of stability resulting from the use of quartz sand as a substitute for fine aggregate is superior to the use of tidal sand. In this case, due to the rough quartz sand texture can increase the viscosity of asphalt so as to improve Marshall characteristics.
