Abstract :
The study was aimed to describe the learning process using Realistic Mathematics Education model and improving students' understanding of student fraction concept. The research method that used is Classroom Action Research by Kemmis and Taggart. The subject of this study are the students of class III which amounted to 36 people. The research was conducted in two cycles that equipped with data collection in the form of observation sheet, test result and field note. The results of the study in application of learning model of Realistic Mathematics Education in mathematics learning of fractional subjects has a value of 3.3 with category done well and understanding the concept of student fractions increased with the average value of cycle I is 64 with the percentage of mastering learning is 75% and it increased in cycle II with an average value of 81 followed by the percentage of learning completeness reached 92%. This study concludes that through the application of learning model of Realistic Mathematics Education could improve the understanding of student fraction concept in mathematics learning academic year 2017/2018.
