Abstract :
This study aims to describe the process of learning and improving students' learning motivation in science learning with talking stick teaching model in grade IV-A high class elementary school. The research method used is Classroom Action Research or PTK, and the design used is Kemmis and Mc Taggart model as much as two cycles that include the planning stage, action implementation, observation and reflection. Participants in this study are students of class IV-A in cikole elementary school as many as 22 students, consisting of 12 female students and 10 male students. Data collection techniques in this study using observation, questionnaires and field notes. Data obtained from the observation sheet and questionnaire used qualitative analysis technique. While the data obtained from field notes were analyzed qualitatively. The results of research on the learning process seen from teacher activity in the first cycle of 68% and cycle II reached 89%. While for student activity (student learning motivation) in cycle I reaches 62% and cycle II reach 5%. As for the result of the increase of students' learning motivation through pre-cycle questionnaires reaching 40%, after the first cycle implementation increased to 66% and the second cycle reached 91%. This study concludes that using the talking stick learning model can improve students' learning motivation in grade IV-A at SDN Cikole in academic year 2017/2018.
