Abstract :
This research is motivated by the low ability to read students in learning activities in class V. This occurs because of the lack of confidence in students and the inability to understand how to read poetry such as vocal techniques (pronunciation, tone, strength, pause); appreciation (motion, expression, intonation); and appearance(gesture or expression and mastery of the stage). The purpose of this study is to describe the activities of students and teachers in teaching and learning activities by applying experimental learning models, describing improvement in reading skills of students in class V after using the experimental learning model. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a research design using Kemmis and Mc Taggart models in 2 cycles. This research is equipped with a collection of data consisting of observation sheets and results sheets of student performance. Participants in this study were class V students (five) totaling 14 people consisting of 7 women and 7 men. The results showed that the activities of learners became more active and more motivated when learning took place using experimental learning models with scores at pretest of 51% or on sufficient proposals, increasing in the first cycle the average score obtained by students was 63% or according to the criteria quite well and the second cycle the average score obtained by students is 71% with good criteria. This study discusses the lighting model that applies experimental learning can improve reading skills of students class V at Bunut SDN 2018/2019 school year.
