Abstract :
The increasingly massive use of transportation is enough to have a serious impact because as long as the vehicle is operating it will emit exhaust gas emissions. The impact again is the effect of global warming which can cause the earth's temperature to increase. This condition encourages many innovations, especially alternative fuels. One alternative fuel that is quite environmentally friendly is plastic oil as a fuel mixture. Plastic oil is very widely available in the community and can be used for fuel mixtures. In this study, the engine performance and exhaust emissions of a diesel engine using a mixture of fuel made from Polypropylane (PP) plastic oil of diesel and biodiesel were tested. The results of the engine performance test show that there is an increase in power in the fuel using a mixture of 25% plastic oil + 74.5% biodiesel + 0.5% cetane booster of 2955 watts. Then for the results of the sfc test, it got the highest value on a fuel mixture of 50% plastic oil + 49.5% niosolar + 0.5 cetane booster of 2.5855 Kg/kWh. While the results of the biodiesel smoke opacity test resulted in the lowest value of 5.4%. Keywords: Plastic Oil, Polypropylane (PP), engine performance, exhaust emissions
