Humans are social beings who have demands to carry out relationships with other humans. In early-level students when facing processes in the environment need personal and emotional adjustments related to aspects of an individual's assessment for his psychological well-being and physical health. Students who are traveling to adjust require high emotional maturity. This study aims to find out the relationship of emotional maturity with self-adjustment; knowing the relationship of social interaction with self-adjustment; and know the relationship of emotional maturity and social interaction with self-adjustment.
This research is correlational quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. The sample in this study was students of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta class of 2020-2021 aged 18-25 years as many as 101 students were selected using purposive sampling. Data collection methods use scales of emotional maturity, social interaction and self-adjustment. Data analysis techniques use multiple linear regression.
Based on multiple linear regression obtained results F = 15.180 and signification (p) = 0.000 (p < 0.05). This shows that there is a significant relationship between emotional maturity and social interaction with self-adjustment, namely the higher the emotional maturity and social interaction, the higher the adjustment. Conversely, the lower the emotional maturity and social interaction, the lower the adjustment. The effective contribution of emotional maturity and social interaction with self-adjustment of 23.7% i.e. 76.3% is influenced by other variables that can affect self-adjustment in addition to variables of emotional maturity and social interaction. Emotional maturity in the study subjects was high with (RE) of 54.24, while the hypothetical average (RH) was 42.5. Social interaction in the study subjects was relatively high with (RE) of 67.80, while the average hypothetical (RH) was 55. Adjustment in the study subjects was relatively high with (RE) of 40.07, while the average hypothetical (RH) was 35.
