Abstract :
Newborn care is not an easy thing to do, knowledge and skills are very important in caring for newborns. Newborn care is care provided to maintain the health of the baby, including bathing the baby properly, caring for the umbilical cord, proper breastfeeding, caring for the baby's skin to prevent irritation, and cleaning the baby's diaper. The purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of health education using video media with leaflet media on the knowledge and practice of pregnant women about newborn care. This type of research is quasi-experimental, with a two group pretest posttest design. The sample in this study were pregnant women in the first, second, and third trimesters as many as 120 pregnant women, and were grouped into two consisting of 60 respondents in the group using audiovisual media and 60 respondents in the group using leaflet media. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. The research instrument used a self-made questionnaire with the results of the validity & reliability test of knowledge as many as 13 questions and practice as many as 10 questions. Research result. the result is that Health Education is more effective using audiovisual media than leaflets with an average difference of 0.07 in knowledge and 0.08 in practice.
