Abstract :
The Covid-19 pandemic that hit all corners of the world, including Indonesia, had an impact on all sectors of life including indie music. The absence of music concerts to prevent the spread of Covid-19 resulted in the loss of the main income for indie music performers who depend on indie music for their lives. This makes indie music performers take various forms of coping as a response to the problems that occur due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This study aims to describe the coping behavior patterns of indie music performers in Surakarta City in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. The research method used is narrative qualitative and data collection is obtained from semi-structured interviews. The informants of this study is 6 indie music performers who are still active playing music in Surakarta City. The data analysis technique in this study used an interactive model. The results obtained from this study are that the research respondents overcome the problems that occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic by continuing to work, looking for alternative income outside of indie music, and doing some new things as an effort to maintain the physical and mental health of the respondents. Various positive things were also done by respondents, such as sharing with friends and family to find solutions in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, trying to always think positively, maintaining health protocols, and filling spare time by doing daily activities. The six research respondents faced all the problems that occurred and there was no effort to avoid problems during the Covid-19 pandemic.
