Abstract :
Poverty is one of the biggest problems in developing countries, especially in Indonesia. Although the number of poor people in Central Java has dropped, it remains very high. This study aimed to estimate the effect of mean years of schooling, life expectancy, the number of working citizens, and minimum wage on Head Count Index in Central Java from 2010 to 2020 using a panel data regression model with the Fixed Effects Model (FEM) approach. The results of this study indicated that life expectancy and minimum wage were statistically proven to have a negative effect on the percentage of poor people, while mean years of schooling and the number of working citizens have no effect. To reduce the poverty rate in Central Java the government is expected to provide various scholarships programs so that more people will be able to acquire education and land a job more easily. In addition, the government is also expected to fund a variety of training programs for child workers from vulnerable groups (school dropouts and poor families), in order to get a good job
