Abstract :
Background: An increase in the number of elderly will affect various fields of life, one of which is an increase in the morbidity rate in the elderly. One of the diseases that occur in the elderly is hypertension. Elderly people with hypertension have limitations in fulfilling their daily living (ADL) activities because of the chronic effects of hypertension, so they tend to need help from their family and closest relatives. Objective: This study was to determine the level of Activity Daily Living (ADL) of elderly patients with hypertension in the Gambirsari Community Health Center. Methods: This type of research is quantitative with analytical descriptive approach and data collection techniques are purposive sampling and data analysis using univariate analysis. The number of respondents in this study were 80 elderly. This study used a barthel index. Results: The level activity daily living (ADL) with mild dependence at the age of 60-74 years (elderly) is 86.3%, female sex is 63.8%, the last education is SD (elementary school) with 60.0%, occupation is 47.5% householder and the longest suffer from hypertension in the range of > 5 years as many as 60.0%. Most of the respondents had no other history, namely 65.0% living status with children/family, 75.0%, and the majority 66.3% had hearing loss. Conclusion: The elderly with hypertension in the Gambirsari Health Center area, Surakarta mostly have a activity daily living (ADL) status.
