Abstract :
Children with special needed mentally retardation are the child who has slower learning ability than normal child. One of the examples is a mild mentally retarded child who has difficulty recognizing Indonesian currency. In the learning system that is usually applied in Sekolah Luar Biasa (SLB) Negeri Sukoharjo is currently using a book that makes students bored and tired of learning material given by the teacher. Handling such issues, creating educational games aims to improve student interest in learning and makes a teacher is easier to deliver learning material of recognizing currency. The research is started by observation and interview one of the curriculum staff in SLB Negeri Sukoharjo. The result of the research is educational games which consist of material and games about currency such as introducing paper currency or metal currency and introducing currency values from writing numbers to sentences. This educational game of recognizing currency is created by a software or application called Construct 2. The test method that will be applied is using the blackbox testing method to find out the educational game is working properly, also UAT (User Acceptance Testing) by questionnaire to find out the worth and quality system contained in an educational game needed. The questionnaire result is 88% which shows the games can be received by students and it helps in the learning process.
