Abstract :
Lack of patient knowledge in self-care has an impact on the health of patients with heart failure. Providing education to heart failure patients through web-based e-health on mobile devices was chosen to help heart failure patients improve self-care at home. This study aims to analyze the effect of e-health as an effort to increase self-care in heart failure patients at UNS Surakarta General Hospital. This type of research is quantitative with a pre-experimental research design. The type of design used in this research is pre-test and post-test without control group design. The sample in this study amounted to 68 respondents who were outpatients at the Cardiology Clinic of UNS Surakarta General Hospital. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The research instrument used was the Self Care Heart Failure Index (SCHFI) questionnaire. The results showed that the majority of male respondents aged >65 years and were in the NYHA II functional class. The mean values before and after being given education were 57.68 and 78.35. The results of data analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test obtained p value = 0.001 which can be concluded that there is a significant difference in the average self-care score before and after being given education through e-health in heart failure patients. Recommendations for further researchers can increase the number of respondents and modify e-health which is easily understood by all ages, especially the elderly.
