Abstract :
Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that requires such a complex treatment and also a family support as support system to overcome the patient's anxiety and emotionally stressed caused by the disease. Family support can be provided through the involvement of the family in helping people with diabetes mellitus overcome emotional problems and stress sufferers. The commitmen from the patient with diabetes mellitus in taking medication plays an important role in the succes if their recovery. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between family support and medication treatment and dietary compliance in patients with diabetes mellitus at the Kutowinangun Public Health Center, Kebumen Regency. The method used in this research is quantitative research using a descriptive correlative design and a cross sectional approach. The sample in this study were people with diabetes mellitus who participated in Prolanis activities at the Kutowinangun Health Center, Kebumen Regency with 67 respondents. The sampling technique used in this research is as simple as a random sampling. The results of the data analysis using chi square showed that the significance value (p) of the relationship between family support and medication adherence was 0.001, and the significance value for the relationship between family support and diet compliance was 0.002. The result of this study is that, there is a relationship between family support and medication adherence and dietary compliance in patients with diabetes mellitus at the Kutowinangun Public Health Center, Kebumen Regency.
