Abstract :
Completion of a final project that is too long can affect a person's level of stress. Actions to resolve the stress can be done in a coping mechanism. Coping mechanisms themselves can also be adaptive or positive or maladaptive or negative. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between stress levels and coping strategies for students in completing their final project at UMS. The results of the study there were 17 respondents who had mild stress in completing the final task more doing adaptive coping by 19.5%. Respondents, who have moderate stress category, do more maladaptive coping by 57.1%. The results of the Spearman rank test analysis obtained p value = -0.001. This value has a negative relationship meaning, which means that the higher the respondent's stress level in completing the final project, the more maladaptive the coping strategies are, and the lighter the respondent's stress in completing the final project, the more adaptive the coping strategies are. The level of correlation is included in the moderate level of correlation, which means that the stress experienced by the respondent is enough to affect the coping strategies carried out during the completion of the final task. Most of the respondents experienced moderate stress in completing their final project and doing maladaptive coping strategies. There is a relationship between stress levels and coping strategies for students in completing their final assignments at UMS.
