Abstract :
Pekalongan City has been decided by UNESCO as a World Creative City in the field of crafts and folk arts on November 28th 2014. Creative City is intended to build cooperation between cities in the world that are committed to developing sustainable urban development with a cultural approach. The network is projected to form partnerships to promote creativity and creative industries. One of the creative industries that is highly favored from Pekalongan City is Batik. Batik which is part of the craft plays a major role as an element of the creative city. In modern times, the national creative industry must begin to change based on technology, utilizing technology in its business activities. Increasing the competitiveness of creative industries needs to be done by optimizing the use of science and technology. On the other hand, it seems that folk art has not received adequate proportions. This inequality is a concern of the Pekalongan City government, especially from the Department of Tourism and Culture. The agency actively cooperates with communities to revive folk art. With the carrying capacity of Batik and Folk Arts, the City of Pekalongan as a Creative City must be able to provide a place to accommodate activities related to this. Therefore, the planning and design of the Co-working and Folk Arts Space is proposed so that it can then be used as a forum for appreciation of Batik and Folk Arts in Pekalongan. Planning and Development of this Co-working and Folk Arts Space will use the Eco-Smart Building design approach. The choice of this concept is expected to increase user productivity because the environment is considered and reduce waste and environmental pollution. To support this energy saving, several smart building technologies have been added that can improve building operational efficiency, save water and energy, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The discussion method used in this paper is literature study and precedent study.
