FACTORS RELATED TO BEHAVIOR OF HOUSEWIVES IN WASTE
MANAGEMENT IN BAGO VILLAGE
The increasing number of waste needs to be managed starting at the household
level and the housewives?s have an important role in waste management. The
housewives' behavior in waste management may be influenced by predisposing
factors including knowledge, attitudes, work, education, and age. Therefore, it is
important to measure the factors related to the housewives' behavior in waste
management so they can encourage housewives to understand more about waste
management, consider lifestyle, and actively participate in waste management.
The objective of this research was to determine the factors related to the
housewives' behavior in waste management in Bago Village. This research was an
analytic observational study with a cross-sectional design. The population of this
research was all housewives in Bago Village, which amounted to 2,580
housewives. The sampling technique used quota sampling. The sample of this
research amounted to 260 respondents. The instrument used was a questionnaire.
Data analysis used the Logistic Regression test. The results showed that there was
a relationship between knowledge (95% CI = 1,870 ? 7,005), attitudes (95% CI =
1,388 ? 5,198), occupation (95% CI = 0,096 ? 0,365) with the housewives'
behavior in waste management in Bago Village. However, there is no relationship
between educational level (95% CI = 0,991 ? 4,683), age (95% CI = 0,301 ?
1,052) with the housewives' behavior in waste management in Bago Village.
Therefore, it is very important to have support from the relevant agencies to make
housewives better understand waste management and apply waste management
principles in their daily lives.
