Abstract :
The process of making bricks for brick craftsmen in Waru Village, Baki, Sukoharjo, as a whole still uses the manual manufacturing method even though the industry already has a fairly high production rate with a limited number of workers. According to observations, the brick manufacturing process involves a non- ergonomic work position and repetitive tasks, putting workers at risk for Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). The goal of this research was to determine the level of risk of MSD injury and offer solutions related to that problem. The research methods used are Novel Ergonomic Postural Assessment (NERPA) and Workplace Ergonomic Risk Assessment (WERA). The research was carried out at four work stations with eight activities carried out by two workers. According to the NERPA approach, there were 5 activities that received a score of 7, and the other three activities had scores of 6, 4, and 3. Activities that received a score of 3 or 4 were classified as requiring further study. While activities with ratings of 6 and 7 require more inquiry, they also require modifications, particularly in activities with a score of 7. The WERA technique assigns a medium risk score to all activities, indicating that they require more evaluation and modifications. The suggestions for improvement include the use of a mixer machine, ergonomic shovel, buckets, tools for arranging bricks, and wheelchairs. The study's conclusion is that practically every step of the production process has a significant risk of MSDs, requiring recommendations to lower the risk.
