Abstract :
This research aims to determine the criticism of patriarchal culture in the horror film Sedap by analyzing the narrative structure of A.J. Greimas, knowing patriarchal culture will know how forms of communication in society aim or function as control over the running of a socio-cultural system or social process. This delicious horror film set in the Batak culture of North Sumatra offers the complexity of several characters with their own problems and then meeting in a solution to the problem through communication which can draw power relations within it. This research uses qualitative research methods with a descriptive approach. Researchers used narrative structure analysis by A.J. Greimas uses an actant model scheme, namely there is a sender, object, recipient, subject, helper and opponent to find out the roles and positions of the characters in building the narrative of the story presented. The object of the research is the film Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap, from the results of research using Johnson's structural-functionalist patriarchal theory approach, it is found that the film Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap is described as a film that has a patriarchal narrative based on Greimas' functional model narrative structure analysis
