Abstract :
One of the audiovisual mass communication media that has a strong influence on the process of delivering messages to all viewers is film. The purpose of this research is to describe the signs of social conflict in the short film Cap Cip Top. This research uses descriptive qualitative research with a critical paradigm and Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis technique which includes three sign systems, namely: denotation, connotation and myth. The sampling strategy used in this research is purposive sampling. This research uses documentation, observation methods, and literature review as data collection strategies. By using the data triangulation method, the researcher verified the data to find out the truth. The research findings show that social conflict is shown in the Cap Cip Top short film as follows: (1) Social conflict involving gossip. (2) Individual differences that become a source of social conflict. (3) Conflict in society caused by bribery. (4) Social strife shown through accusations. (5) Prejudiced social conflict.
