Abstract :
This research is motivated by the use of Indonesian language adjusted to the needs of the language speakers in the TikTok social media platform advertising discourse. The purpose of this study is to (1) Identify the form of language in the TikTok social media platform advertising discourse. (2) Find out the purpose of the TikTok social media platform advertising discourse. (3) Find out its use as teaching material for Indonesian language for class VIII. The reason for conducting this research is because in the TikTok social media platform advertisement there are various forms of language, therefore the researcher is interested in conducting this research. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive type. The object of this research is the variation of language in the TikTok social media platform advertising discourse. The data source was obtained from the 2021-2024 TikTok social media platform dialogue advertising discourse. The data collection technique in this study was the listening technique and the note-taking technique. The results of the study show that first, the use of Indonesian and English language forms is more dominant than other language forms. Second, the use of the purpose of advertising discourse consisting of attracting attention by giving commands/orders to potential consumers is more dominant than the purpose of other advertising discourse. Third, this research has the benefit of being a reference for readers, helping to broaden understanding of Indonesian language learning related to language variation.
