Abstract :
ABSTRACT
One of the native plants of Indonesia that is widely distributed in several regions in
Indonesia and has the potential to be develoved is the Beluntas plant (Pluchea indica L). Which
is a plant from the Asteraceae tribe which contains alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, essential oils,
chlorogenic acid, sodium, potassium, magnesium and phosphorus while the roots contain
flavonoids and tannins. Candida albicans is the most pathogenic species that attacks the skin
surface, oral and vagina mucosa. Candidiasis is a problem for many suffers because of the
symptoms caused by the yeast infection Candida albicans. Many people have tried to treat or
eliminate candidiasis, namely by using antibiotics clearly has side affects, and the use of natural
ingredients is the solution. One of them is Pluchea indica which contains flavonoids, tannins
and saponins which have the potential as antifungals. The purpose of this study was to
determine the concentation of Pluchea indica extract with 96% ethanol solvent which has
optimal activity in inhibiting the growth of Candida albicans based on the minimum inhibitory
concentration (MIC) and the width of the inhibition area (LDH). Qualitatifve phytochemical
test were carried out on alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins and steroids. This anti fungal
test uses the disc diffusion method. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) test of
Pluchea indica extract was carried out using the dilution method at concentrations of 0.625%,
1.25%, 2.5% and 5 % and the widw area of inhibition (LDH) was tested using the disc diffusion
method at concentations of 5%, 10% and 20%.
