Abstract :
This study aims to determine whether there are differences in the behavior of
helping to provide seats between female passengers in their late teens and male
passengers in their late teens on the Jakarta-Bogor commuter line route. The data
for this study were generated from a scale that was distributed to 389 late teens
who used commuter line for the Jakarta-Bogor route at the age of 15-20 years,
users who given the helpful behavior in commuter line before PSBB (Social
Distancing Regulation in Indonesia), users who using commuter line during
working hours, users who using commuter line 3 times on weekdays and ever give
seats to another passengers. The scale used to measure helping behavior is the
Guttman Scale developed by Yulianto (2019). This study uses the calculation of
the Coefficient of Reproducibility (CR) and the Coefficient of Scalability (CS). The
results show that there is a difference in the order of assistance, where male in
their late teens help based on emergencies and women in late teens help based
on emotional support. The data analysis method used in this study was the
independent sample t-test. The results showed that there were differences in the
behavior of helping to provide seats between women in late adolescence and men
in late adolescence, where male subjects in late adolescence were more likely to
carry out helping behavior in giving seats than women in late adolescence. The
results of this study can be used as a research development on the phenomenon
of helping behavior both in commuter line and other public transportation.
