Abstract :
Keywords: Analysis, Code Mixing, Instagram The primary focus of this research centered on the occurrences of code mixing within Instagram users' content. The study aimed to achieve several objectives: (1) identifying the various types of code mixing employed by Instagram users on social media, (2) elucidating the motivations behind the use of code mixing in captions and comments on Instagram, and (3) providing an explanation for the meanings conveyed through code mixing in the captions, comments, and Instastories of Instagram users. The research design adopted was that of descriptive qualitative research. The subject of investigation was the content encompassing captions, comments, and Instastories of Instagram users. The data was gathered through a comprehensive data display. The ensuing discussions draw attention to the emergence of three distinct types of code mixing. The synthesis of findings underscores these categories: insertion, accounting for 22 instances; alternation, also with 22 instances; and congruent lexicalization, which appeared in 6 instances. The findings revealed the Instagram users' fervor for promoting the use of code mixing, driven by a desire to encourage people, particularly their followers, to enhance their communication skills through the incorporation of English. This motive wasn't rooted in a display of English proficiency but rather a genuine aspiration to foster personal growth among their audience. Additionally, the use of code mixing was attributed to the habitual language environment these users were raised in, either within English-speaking families or social circles. In summation, the prior chapters' discussions converge to support the overarching purpose of this study. The synthesis of these findings affirms the existence of three discernible forms of code mixing.
