Abstract :
Escherichia coli is a microbe that usually lives in human colon, Escherichia coli can be a pathogen when it reaches the tissues outside the digestive tract, if the body's resistance is not sufficient, it can cause diarrhea and the incidence of disease due to Escherichia coli in Indonesia is still fairly large. Yoghurt, which is a product of fermented milk with a culture of lactic acid bacteria, is useful for increasing the immune system and preventing the development of pathogenic bacteria. This study was conducted to determine the ratio of the diameter of the growth inhibition of Escherichia coli at various concentrations of yogurt (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%). The method used in this research is the disc diffusion method (Kirby-Bauer). The results obtained were not found a zone of inhibition of Escherichia coli growth in the concentration of yogurt, but found a zone of inhibition of positive control using the antibiotic ciprofloxacin of 32 mm. So the minimum concentration of yogurt was not found to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli. If further research is carried out, it can be done by the well diffusion method or the delusion. Keywords : yoghurt, Eschericia coli, incidence of disease due to Escherichia coli.
