Abstract :
Streptococcus mutans is one of several pathogenic bacteria in the human body. This bacterial species attacks the mouth area which includes niches such as teeth, gingival sulcus, tongue, cheeks, hard and soft palate, and tonsils as a place of good life for microbes. There are several types of plants with antibacterial properties including noni fruit and garlic. The purpose of this study was to determine the comparison of the effectiveness of the antibacterial administration of garlic extract (Allium sativum) with noni fruit extract (Morinda citrifilia L.) against the growth inhibition zone of Streptococcus mutans bacteria. The results of this study showed that garlic extract was more effective in inhibiting the growth of Streptococcus mutans bacteria than noni fruit extract because the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration against Streptococcus mutans bacteria was given the garlic extract with a concentration of 0.5% while the Minimum Inhibitory concentration against Streptococcus bacteria. mutans on giving noni fruit extract with a concentration of 5%.
