Abstract :
Prasasti, Kadek Yudia Rustiandini. 2020. The Effect of Giving Tumeric Extract (Curcuma domestica Valet) Towards Diameter zone Pseudomonas aeruginosa Growth. Final Task. Medical Education Study Program. Faculty of Medical. Wijaya Kusuma University Surabaya. Supervisor : dr. Heru Setiawan, M. Imun. Traditional medicines derived from plants have been used by people around the world as alternative medicines for certain diseases. The attractiveness of traditional medicine mainly comes from its natural properties, so it is considered safer and better tolerated than modern medicine. Turmeric is a plant that has active compounds such as curcumin and phenols which can fight infectious diseases that are mainly caused by bacteria. Infectious disease is a disease that often occurs in developing countries, including Indonesia. One of the bacteria that causes infectious disease is Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Research development to treat infectious diseases using traditional medicine derived from plants that can kill bacteria and do not cause side effects. From this description, this study aims to determine the effect of giving turmeric extract (Curcuma domestica valet) on the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The population of bacteria used in this study was Pseudomonas aeruginosa obtained from the UPTD. The Bali Provincial Health Laboratory Center with a sample size of 24. The independent variable in this study was the extract of turmeric (Curcuma domestica valet) with the concentration divided into 6 treatment groups with extract concentrations of 20%, 40%, 80%, and 100%. . While the dependent variable is the diameter of the inhibition zone that occurs in each treatment group. Furthermore, this research was analyzed using the one way ANOVA statistical test. The results showed that the administration of turmeric rhizome extract (Curcuma domestica Valet) was unable to inhibit the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa as indicated by the absence of inhibition zones at all concentrations. Key words : Extract, Tumeric Rhizome, Pseudomonas aeruginosa
