Abstract :
Sujana, Putu Gede Aditya Prasetya. 2020. Effect of Ethanol Extracts of Euphorbia tirucalli Plant Against Growth Inhibition of Staphylococcus aureus. Final Assignment, Faculty of Medicine, Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya University. Supervisor: I Made Subhawa Harsa. Phytochemical test of Euphorbia tirucalli plant showed that the content of tannins and steroids was quite high and the content of flavonoids, triterpenoids and hydroquinone was sufficient qualitatively. Staphylococcus aureus is a gram-positive bacteria that is mostly found on the skin, respiratory tract, and digestive tract of human. The purpose of this study was to explain the effect of Euphorbia tirucalli plant extract on the inhibition of the growth of Staphylococcus aureus. Where the population of bacteria used is the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria obtained from the Biogen Microbiology Laboratory in Surabaya with 24 samples taken. The independent variable of this study was the ethanol extract of Ephorbia tirucalli plant with various concentrations, while the dependent variable was the diameter of inhibition zone of Staphylococcus aureus growth. The data were analyzed using the One Way Anova statistical test. The conclusion is that the ethanol extract of Euphorbia tirucalli plant affects the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and has the strongest inhibitory at a concentration of 100% (p= 0,000 < 0,05). The ethanol extract of the Euphorbia tirucalli plant can be recommended for the treatment of diseases caused by Staphylococcus aureus infection, but more in-depth research is needed by looking at the "dose effect relationship"
