PENGARUH PEMBERIAN EKSTRAK BIJI PEPAYA
(Carica papaya L.) TERHADAP MORTALITAS
LARVA NYAMUK Culex quinquefasciatus Say

ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas ekstrak biji pepaya (Carica
papaya L.) terhadap mortalitas larva nyamuk Culex quinquefasciatus Say. Larva
nyamuk Culex quinquefasciatus Say merupakan hewan coba dalam penelitian ini
yang berjumlah 625 ekor. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak
lengkap dengan lima perlakuan dan lima pengulangan, dimana masing-masing
ulangan terdiri atas 25 ekor larva nyamuk Culex quinquefasciatus Say. Kelima
perlakuan itu terdiri dari kontrol negatif aquades, kontrol positif abate/themefos,
kosentrasi ekstrak 10%, kosentrasi ekstrak 15% dan kosentrasi ekstrak 20%.
Pengamatan kematian larva nyamuk Culex quinquefasciatus Say dilakukan setiap
dua jam sekali selama 12 jam. Kemudian data yang diperoleh dianalisis
menggunakan uji one way ANOVA dan uji lanjutan Duncan. Dari hasil yang
diperoleh, ekstrak biji pepaya (Carica papaya L.) dengan konsentrasi 15% dan 20%
lebih efektif sebagai larvasida nyamuk Culex quinquefasciatus Say dibandingkan
dengan larutan abate/themefos. Maka berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh
kesimpulan bahwa ekstrak biji pepaya (Carica papaya L.) kosentrasi 15%dan 20%
dapat dijadikan sebagai larvasida alami terhadap nyamuk Culex quinquefasciatus
Say yang lebih efektif dari abate/themefos.

EFFECT OF PAPAYA SEED EXTRACT (Carica papaya L.)

ABSTRACT
This study aimed to determine effectiveness of papaya seed extract (Carica papaya
L.) against mortality of larvae mosquitoes Culex quinquefasciatus Say. Mosquito
Culex Larvae quinquefasciatus Say is trials animal in that study which amounted
to 625 heads. Design of this study was used complete randomized design with five
treatments and five repetitions, each of which consisted 25 larvae of Culex
quinquefasciatus Say mosquito. The fifth treatments consisted of negative control
of aquades, positive control of abate/themefos, 10% extract concentration, 15%
extract concentration and 20% extract concentration. Observations death of larvae
mosquitoes Culex quinquefasciatus Say are carried out every two hours once every
12 hours. Then data obtained was analyzed using ANOVA one way test and
Duncan's follow-up test. From the results obtained, papaya seed extract (Carica
papaya L.) with a concentration of 15% and 20% more effective as larvacide
mosquito Culex quinquefasciatus Say compared to abate solution / themefos. Based
on results of the study was obtained conclusion that papaya seed extract (Carica
papaya L.) concentration of 15%and 20% can be used as a natural larvacide
against mosquitoes Culex quinquefasciatus Say more effective than abate /
themefos.
