Abstract :
(ABSTRAKSI) Ritournelle de La Faim merupakan salah satu karya sastra yang ditulis oleh Jean Marie Gustave Le Clezio. Novel tersebut menceritakan dominasi sosial di dalam kehidupan sosial seorang gadis keturunan yahudi borjuis yang tinggal di kota Paris pada masa sebelum dan saat perang dunia II. Dominasi sosial di dalam novel muncul secara implisit di dalam hubungan antartokoh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui wujud-wujud dominasi sosial yang terjadi dalam hubungan antartokoh. Selain itu dominasi sosial juga dapat ditemukan dalam hubungan antarkelompok pada peristiwa pameran kolonial dan holocaust yang turut diceritakan di dalam novel. Untuk mempermudah menemukan wujud-wujud dominasi sosial, digunakan teori dominasi sosial yang dikemukakan oleh Felicia Pratto, Jim Sidanius, dan Shana Levin. Teori ini membagi dominasi sosial menjadi sistem umur, sistem gender, dan sistem kesewenang-wenangan.Selain itu digunakan pula konsep kekuasaan yang menjabarkan unsur-unsur kekuasaan. Melalui analisis dan penerapan teori dominasi sosial dapat disimpulkan bahwa dominasi sosial yang terjadi pada hubungan antartokoh dalam novel Ritournelle de La Faim dipengaruhi oleh adanya unsur-unsur kekuasaan berupa rasa cinta, rasa takut, dan kepercayaan. (ABSTRACT) Ritournelle de La Faim is one of the literatures written by Jean Marie Gustave Le Clezio. This novel tells the social domination life of a bourgeois Jewish girl who lived in Paris in the period before and during World War II which appears implicitly in relationship between characters. Colonial exhibition and holocaust are two of the example cases. The objective of this study is to determine the form of social domination between the characters. In order to find the forms, this thesis uses social dominance theory by Felicia Pratto, Jim Sidanius, and Shana Levin. The theory contains of three system of domination such as an age system, a gender system, and an arbitrary system. In addition, the concept of authority is also added to describe the elements of it. From the analysis and application of social dominance theory, it is concluded that the social domination occurred in the relationship between characters in Ritournelle de La Faim is affected by the elements of authority such as love, fear, and trust.
