ABSTRACT This research aims to know the academic quality standards of Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University of Malang, the strategies for university to reach these standards, and the implementation of the quality academy in the university. The research questions covered three questions: 1) what are the academic standards of total quality at the university?, 2) what are the university strategies to reach these standards?, and 3) how are the applications of the total quality academic at the university? This study employed a qualitative approach. For the purpose of data collection, the researcher has used three basic methods for data collection include; the interview, observation, and study the documents in order to obtain detailed information. The researcher analyzed the data through three actions: contraction of data, display data to draw conclusions, and verified. The researcher concluded to several findings. First UIN Malang has academic standards of total quality at UIN Malang which are: 1) the academic standards, which are divided into General Standart, Education Standards , Standards of Researches, and Standard of Community Service, and 2) Standards of Minimum of Academic Service (SPM), which cover the performance of stakeholders, administration, education and the development process, and the spirit and work culture.
