ABSTRACT The culture of Marind Ethnic in Papua is maintained since long time ago until now, such as the variety of tradition of proposal and wedding ceremony. Marind people believe Islam as religion. It causes the emerge of two culture in proposal and wedding ceremony traditions of Marind Papua Ethnic of Merauke Regency, they are hereditary culture and Islamic culture. The recent development shows the harmony and interaction between two cultures which makes acculturation process in showing those tradition practice. This opinion can be used to analyze the history of Marind Papua?s hereditary and Religious Culture to find connectivity and to relate them. This research aims to discover and see the research focus How is the proposal and wedding ceremony tradition of Muslims of Marind Papua Ethnic in Merauke Regency in the acculturation perspective? This research is included in field research of qualitative research. The primary data are obtained through methods of observation, interview, and documentation. The data analysis uses descriptive-qualitative method. While for the validity uses source data triangulation. The research result shows that: 1) Muslims of Marind Ethnic do proposal and wedding ceremony tradition through discussion process before perform it. This research find the implementation of proposal and wedding ceremony tradition of Muslims in Marind Papua Ethnic in Merauke Regency, they are: the implementation of past tradition and the effect of minority Muslims in family, the implementation of mix tradition of both cultures, and the implementation of modern tradition or elimination of Marind Culture tradition. 2) The acculturation experiences its process in Marind Papua Ethnic people over proposal and wedding ceremony tradition, they are changed tradition, mixed tradition with new element, lost tradition, and added new tradition that fulfill their needs. They create new tradition for Marind Papua Ethnic people. This research also shows that Muslims of Marind Papua ethnic people hold tight the culture which considers comprehension and implementation with values of culture, on the other hand, they also obey every issue related to Islamic culture. In the Ridfield acculturation introduces decline, but this research shows new tradition as identity of Muslims of Marind Papua ethnic. The mixing of cultures between Marind and religious in this research shows no decline. ABSTRAK Budaya Suku Marind Papua dipelihara sejak dahulu untuk dilestarikan hingga saat ini. seperti budaya adat Marind dalam tradisi peminangan dan pesta perkawinannya yang beranekaragam. Masyarakat Suku Marind mulai meyakini bahwa Islam sebagai agama bagi mereka. Dari uraian tersebut munculah dua budaya dalam tradisi peminangan dan pesta perkawinan Suku Marind Papua Kabupaten Merauke yaitu budaya turun temurun dan budaya Islam. Perkembangan terkini menunjukan adanya harmoni dan
